Chicago weather sucks BIGTIME.

I am so f-ing TIRED!!!

I'm blessed with the pleasure of working outside in this Chicago schvitz. It's so draining that I'm useless for hours and sometimes days after only 4-5 hours. On the bright side, I have a pigeon update; Kevin Smith will be in Chicago this week; I'm helping a frail, elderly woman get through this heinous hotspell...

So, to continue, when I work outside, I carry a lot of heavy, filthy recycleble auto parts from anywhere between 10 and 150 feet, sometimes up or down stairs, to get them to my truck. There is a lot of dust involved with this from rust, sanded paint, soot and brake pads. By the time I'm done for the day, because of all of my perspiration, I look like this:

It takes even more time and energy to clean up to this point:

so, I can sit down cool off and eat. Chicago weather sucks BIGTIME.

That pigeon that I helped is doing pretty well. I designed her splint to fall off after it got wet enough (she stands in the bird bath when she drinks) and it worked like a charm. She wore it for about a week and then pulled it off. She still limps a little, but considering the fact that she couldn't even stand up, when I found her, I figure I did pretty well.

On top of that, she found a mate.

Pigeons mate for life, so I see them together, a lot.

Today, they were eating moistened dog food on my roof--pigeons love that stuff. You can see her next to the waterer--although she's very dark--and her mate is directly behind her.

Those light spots all over the pigeons are bits of wet dog food. They pick up a chunk and shake their heads to break off a little piece. It looks funny when they're all doing it at the same time.

Kevin Smith is coming into town to be a guest critic on Ebert & Roeper. Then he'll be at Wizard Con Chicago, which starts July 3rd. Check out the guests who'll be signing autographs and scroll down to the "Autograph Area" listing. It must really suck to be a has-been. I mean, what does Joyce Dewitt have to do with wizards? My guess is that nerds used to fantasize about her on Three's Company, because she seemed remotely more obtainable than Suzanne Sommers or her replacement bimbos.

Finally, I gave an elderly woman my old "backup" air conditioner. She's one of those people that thinks a fan would be sufficient, but she was starting to realize that it wouldn't be. So, I installed it for her. Old people who sit alone in the intense heat tend to die and stuff. I wish I could do more. I'm just glad she's cool, now. I'm also glad my Grandma has AC, as well.

Chicago weather sucks BIGTIME.

more stuff

Yesterday, I went with little_octagon and willowpea to see Clerks II. Naturally, it rocked! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. I love how Kevin Smith can skillfully combine "thinking" humor with "toilet" humor. Now, I also have a "secret girlfriend."
Sorry, Terry.

Also, I had one those extremely good/bad weeks. Three of my koi jumped out of my fountain--they're with God, now. The remaining fish in the fountain started beating up on my water lettuce, so I moved the plants to the smaller of my two water gardens.

It turns out that they laid eggs on the water lettuce and five days after I moved the plants, about twenty baby fish hatched.

I realized I still hadn't renewed the license plates on my car and van, yet and they expire in a week.

I found a pigeon with a broken foot, and splinted it, successfully.

Released two days later and saw it the next the next day (today), eating with it's flock, outside my window.

I bought a new air conditioner for $80, cuz my old one broke down.

I got laid (but, GOOD) on my birthday.
;}

I turned 44 years old/young/middle-aged/lame.

I hurt my right foot and I don't know how.
?

And I watched some really great movies.
